Feelings Vs. Faith
There are times that God's presence will have a profound effect on our emotions and even to our bodies. His presence will cause us to weep or laugh with joy, some experience goose bumps and it seems as our hair stands on end. It is a wonderful experience that soars our assurance and faith in God BUT......
We cannot base our experience with God on our feelings. Our experience with God must be based on his word, which changes not.
2Corinthians 5:6-7 So we are always of
good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away
from the Lord,
Our walk with God is a faith walk; we believe not because we see or feel but because our faith is our evidence. Faith that is produce by His word.
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
John 20:27-29Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust [it] into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed [are] they that have not seen, and [yet] have believed.
Thomas based his faith on what he could see or feel, Jesus said because you have seen me you believe.
Now notice this:
Romans 4:16Therefore [it is] of faith, that [it might be] by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, [even] God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb:
20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
Abraham's faith was based on what God said to him, he took God at his word, he did not consider his body, what he could see or feel.
Praise God we have those special times when God's presence is so real but we believe because his word stands forever, it is solid.
We must always remember that God loves us and that His promise to us is that He will never leave us nor forsake us.
Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
