Salvation cannot be based upon your feelings or the opinions of others. The foundation for our salvation is the word of God. Our feelings or emotions can vary and change from day to day based upon our situation or circumstance but the Word of God changes not; The Lord Jesus said, “heaven and earth shall pass away but my words shall never pass away.”

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

1 John 5:11-14 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

* Notice that John says that these thing were written that we may know that we have eternal life.

* God's word gives us assurance and confidence.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

It is not wrong to say what the Bible says about yourself.

It is vitally important that New Christians be rooted in good Christian doctrine. Not every one that names the name of Jesus is preaching good doctrine. Our Lord Jesus said in Matthew 7:15

“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”  Not everyone that knocks on your door is of God. Beware!

As you have probably already found out, a Christian can sin. We aren't perfect, we are forgiven. God's plan of salvation is complete. He has made provision for us; that if we break fellowship with Him by sinning, we can be restored by the on going work of the Lord Jesus Christ; as He intercedes and represents us before the throne of God, as our High Priest and Advocate. His blood that was shed to redeemed us, has been presented before God upon the mercy seat in behalf of the Christian, for the cleansing of our sins as we confess them.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 2:1 My little children, these things I write to you, that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
